Balakrishnan Thottikamath (Bala) is the Chief Marketing Officer and President of Greater China. He is based in Singapore and has been on the Diversey APAC Leadership Team since 1999 and the Diversey Global Leadership Team since 2011.

Bala is a seasoned leader with over 33 years of experience in Sales, Marketing and business leadership across a number of businesses and geographies. He has been with Diversey since 1999 when it was DiverseyLever. He was responsible for turning around the fledgling business in India and laying a strong foundation for its future. He led Diversey operations in South East Asia and ANZ before moving into a regional role in Singapore in which he handled the Diversey Care business across Asia, Middle East, Africa and Turkey from 2011 to 2014.

Before DiverseyLever, Bala spent nine years with Unilever India, starting as Area Sales Manager and progressing to General Sales Manager for the Chemicals business. He started his career in 1981 as a frontline technical sales engineer specializing in B2B sales.

Throughout his career, Bala has been recognized as a passionate growth oriented leader with a thorough understanding of the businesses he has handled. He has considerable knowledge of emerging markets, having spent many successful years on the field with sales teams and customers across diverse cultures. He is passionate about coaching and spent some time in the early part of his career as a visiting faculty in Sales and Marketing.

Bala has also been a speaker and panel member at various cleaning industry forums in South East Asia, North Asia and Australasia and has participated in several industry events across the world. He is also the founder trustee of Suryoday School (suryodayschool.org), a school for underprivileged children in Mumbai.

Bala has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and a degree in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM). He also completed an executive program in emerging market management at INSEAD’s Singapore campus.
